OTTER SPACE CONFERENCE CENTER and RETREAT is a rare find in Humboldt County, created as a 38-acre sustainable retreat that could be a home or a business or both. Our LODGE is a newly log-built winterized three-bedroom home overlooking the wild Klamath River, with a large high-ceiling kitchen and living room that open onto wraparound covered porches on three sides. With a large open workshop in the backyard, there's lots of space for gardening and green houses. Next to it, but out of sight, is our unique 30-foot TWO-STORY YURT, perched above the Klamath on a 50 x 50-foot deck, with a bathroom that offers a picture window view of the river while you shower. Down the spiral staircase there's a large full kitchen area for dining and living. This property extends across the river, where you can swim, fish, kayak, or just laze on our wide pebble beach. Pick your breakfast from an organic, fifty-tree ORCHARD bursting with apples, peaches, pears, cherries, plums, persimmons, apricots, and grapes, or grow your own sustainable food garden anywhere on the five-acre MEADOW of rock-free alluvial soil. Just above the meadow, our MAIN HOUSE has 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, living room and full bath with a huge screened dining hall, where we've comfortably served up to 40 people. Our BARN houses our ATV and tool shop on the ground floor, and has two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a balcony upstairs overlooking the yard. There's also a BOAT and TRACTOR shed, a large FIREWOOD Shed and a small RED CASITA for storage. Nearby our BLUE and PUMPKIN COTTAGES, have sleeping lofts, wood stoves, and kitchenettes. Tucked between them is a double YELLOW SHOWER HOUSE with two separate showers and toilets. Otter Space is set up to be a fully off the grid, sustainable way of life where the water flows freely out of the mountain, and firewood is plentiful because half the property is a Doug fir forest. It's all supported by solar power, propane, and wood stoves. The Lodge might also be used for office space if you're interested in taking over the existing summer business of hosting Hip Camp and Air BandB visitors who come to see the redwoods, pick wild blackberries and swim in the river. (We made a six-figure gross income for being available for 7 months of the year.) Guests stay in one of our buildings, or camp in one of six campsites. Maple, Grotto River and Pepper Tree camps overlook the river, while Morning Meadow, Deer Meadow and Orchard Meadow camps circle the 5-acre meadow where black tail deer graze in the evenings. Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit. There's also a Camp Shower and two Outhouses.
